سُورَةُ المَاعُونِ
Al-Maa'un
Almsgiving · 7 verses · Meccan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
1
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِیمِ أَرَءَیۡتَ ٱلَّذِی یُكَذِّبُ بِٱلدِّینِ
HAST THOU ever considered [the kind of man] who gives the lie to all moral law?
2
فَذَ ٰلِكَ ٱلَّذِی یَدُعُّ ٱلۡیَتِیمَ
Behold, it is this [kind of man] that thrusts the orphan away,
3
وَلَا یَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلۡمِسۡكِینِ
and feels no urge to feed the needy.
4
فَوَیۡلࣱ لِّلۡمُصَلِّینَ
Woe, then, unto those praying ones
5
ٱلَّذِینَ هُمۡ عَن صَلَاتِهِمۡ سَاهُونَ
whose hearts from their prayer are remote
6
ٱلَّذِینَ هُمۡ یُرَاۤءُونَ
those who want only to be seen and praised,
7
وَیَمۡنَعُونَ ٱلۡمَاعُونَ
and, withal, deny all assistance [to their fellow-men]!
